I've researched on breeding for 2 years now. I got a HM pair to spawn last year, but everything went horribly wrong before I could spawn them (Male had fin rot and female passed away). Now I have two possible bettas I would like to use for breeding. First, I have my SD male. I would like to find a HM female to spawn with but I can't find one anywhere. Instead, I was thinking of finding a nice CT and breeding combtails. Secondly, I have my CT female. I would most likely breed her with a marble or cambodian CT male. Which one should I breed?

well you already have the crowntail female to breed with your superdelta.... so i guess that would be easier, but if you want to buy a crowntail male, there are loads on ebay atm

I meant to say that I would buy a different female for my SD. The female I have know isn't the color I would want to breed with him.

Oops! I forgot. I can get a HM female just not a green lace like I want. What other colors do you think would pair nice with my male?

Well you could look for a blue or blue-green HM girl if you can't find a proper green lace? Though if she has other colours further back in her line they may crop up unexpectedly in the fry.

The breeder I'm getting the female from should know what her color history is.

I know there's a post regarding that finding homes before you breed is best. Thought I'd add that I have people on forums that want a pair from this male and I'm going to talk to my LFS about them. I'll possibly sell a few on Aquabid and Ebay. My main goal is keeping the fry out of bowls by selling them to people educated about these fish.
