No tanks "need" cleaner fish. Best algae removal is done by an algae scraper, Best excess food removal (there should be none anyway) is done with a gravel vac.

ive always bought neons and theyve done fine.

yes, the neon thing is sligthly true

neons need a mature tank that has stedy stats

and if you wont a aldea eater for a 10 gallon

i would go for like 1-2 Otos

and like the other people said above you need a group of 6 or more

ottos prefer groups of at least 3. for a ten gal i would go with something like this: 1 dwarf gourami, 7 neons, 3 ottos, and a couple ghost shrimp.

Dwarf corys should be in a group of at least 4, preferably 5 or more. They school.
