I was looking at pics. of aquariums on the board and I was wondering which is better for the aquarium, fake plants, live, or a mixture of both? And does it matter one way or the other. Will the fish still thrive if all the plants are fake?

Thanks in advance to anyone that responds. :D

You can have fake, real or mixed, live plants help keep nitrates down, but it depends on your lighting with real plants.

And the fish won't mind unless they eat live plants :p - and because of the nitrAtes which Wilder has already mentioned and which can easily be controlled by good maintainance and weekly water changes.
