This question is pariticularly about Angelfish but could probably be applied to all centerpiece fish.

Which do you suggest?

1) Placing the centerpiece fish in the tank first, then add others around them over time
2) Build the community aquarium up first, then add the centerpiece fish last (which are typically the largest of all the fish in the tank)

Any advice is appreciated.

generally there's two reasons why you need to worry over the order of stocking

1 - some fish are sensitive and the tank should be given time to mature before adding them (only for brand new tanks)
2 - the species is aggressive/territorial

so it's gonna totally depend on the species in question, there is no general answer to that question.

however for angels i'd say add them last, because they can be a touch sensitive in newly cycled tanks and can also be a bit territorial.

Sounds good! And I would assume this still applies if I elect to add them as juveniles?

yes, as juvi's they are a touch more sensitive to water conditions
