i live in newyork city in elmhurst. i have a 10 galon tank with just a bunch of rocks i collected in it

So theres nothing in it? Its not big enough for goldfish. You ould very possibly get away with a small group of white cloud mountain minnows and a hillstream loach, but thats it.

In the case of goldfish, it depends. Fancies, I'd say about 15g each, depending on the type. Commons and comets, ponds or about 55g minimum.

The general rule is 1" of fish per gallon... Plus, the majority of fish need their water around 75+, so you are even more limited there. Do your self a favor, go to Walmart, and spend 15 dollars on a submersable heater.

no...gold fish grow to be fairly large and are also messy fish, so the inch of fish per gallon rule doesn't apply with them. Keeping them in anything smaller will also stunt them, where they are smaller in size, but their organs will grow to their usual size. These fish are more prone to disease and live shorter lives.
