I'm fed up buying D&D c02 bottles, costing me a small fortune. So i think i'll go down the fire extinguisher route.

I just want to check i'm buying the right stuff.

yep they should all work but just check around to see where you can get the fire extinguisher refilled

I'm in Huntingdon, Cambs. Anyone know where i can get these refilled near me?

Try this site for a fire extingusher it might work out cheaper than ebay. £20 for a 2kg and £35 for a 5kg plus free postage. :good:

Thats a bargain price for 2kg of CO2. The 5kg version is even cheaper.

EDIT - what on earth are they doing selling extinguishers as gifts? 'Here you go darling, have a fire extinguisher for your birthday!'

Well to be fair if I got a co2 canister as a gift right now I would be pretty happy. They obviously are well aware how desperate some planted tank keepers are to get their hads on co2

So fire extinguishers are cheaper to refill? I would have thought the pub bottles or the disposable welding bottles was a far cheaper route to go, easier to fit regulators and readily available. Keep us updated , I'm very interested to see one of these up and running. :hyper:

dont know if this helps but if you have any paintball places they will do refills for co2 bottles

Welding cylinders are cheaper, I just got a 12lb one for 60quid, will last me years. The difficulty with these is getting refills, Boc, Air Products, etc only refill their one cylinder which you have to rent at a ridiculous cost and then pay for refills. I am lucky enough to live near an independent welding place that will accept almost any cylinder.

Paintball places are good, but you have to persuade them to refill your cylinder and that's not necessarily easy.
