Which Eheim is the better choice between the Classic 2217 or Pro II 2028 and why. The Pro also being a bit more expensive....but other than that.
Thanks

I'd probably say the pro 2 2028 simply for the practicality of it. The classics dont have any sort of self prime feature so you need to prime then yourself by sucking on the tubes to get the flow running.

Another option is the one I have, the pro 3 2075, again a little more expensive than the pro 2 but not by much. I dont know where you're looking at them and at what price but I got mine from charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk for £170 complete with all media.

Its easy to prime, clean and maintain, provides great filtration and mine only requires cleaning every 4-6 months.

2028 also has more room for media i guess. Just have to decide if it's worth the extra cash. Alot of people seem to enjoy the classics.

i run a classic 2215 and its fine. yes its no frills but will keep going forever. sucking on the pipe is nothing 1 good suck and its primed just dont forget to drain the return pipe before sucking!!! it doesnt have any media baskets but as long as you have a container with tank water in then theres no problem with putting it in there while cleaning etc. i also have a rena xp3 and yes the eheim takes a bit longer to clean but only a few minutes.... it all depends on what you want really a good filter with a hole in your pocket or a good filter thats cheap as chips... think i paid £60 for mine delivered :good: i also think my eheim has a better flow rate than the rena too.

Ive got the pro 2 2028, id say go with that. Ok i only paid a bargain £35 for mine second hand and full of media but id quite happily pay full price for a new one if i had to.

I never even thought baskets. That is kinda nice. I guess neither bypass at all really. Has anyone tried the renn plax cascade 1500???
