I have decided to go pressurized and have tried to search the site to get an idea of what everyone else is using but it doesn't seem that a lot of people are pressurized. I saw several threads from back in August that seemed to suggest that several members were ready to make the plunge. So of those that have, which system did you get and are you happy with it (ease of installation, ease of use, does what you expected, etc.). With such a big investment (since I have 2 planted tanks and may end up getting a second one if I like the way the first works), I want to know I'm getting the best. I don't mind paying a little more as I am a firm believer in the old saying that you get what you pay for but I don't want to just buy the most expensive system thinking it is better.

hi there.

santa brought me a jbl proflouri easy2 kit.

not set up yet as it came with a 2pin euro plug and an empty co2 bottle. LOL

apparently theyre pretty good i've seen display tanks with them fitted and they did the job.

make sure you get a solenoid (sp?) valve though to shut it off at night, your bottle will last twice as long.

I got the following equipment fairly recently:
Top Gun regulator
Milwaukee ph controller
I don't remember where I got it, but I also have the Aqua Medic 1000 co2 reactor. You can get them for like $30 on ebay.

All three of these items are top notch as far as I'm concerned. I was a complete novice to co2 and had little trouble with setup or calibration. Everything has performed perfectly and I feel like I have great accuracy and control over the co2 levels in the tank.

(Now if I could just say the same about ferts! Stupid algae! ;))

jimbooo, that seems to be the system that most people in the threads I found were leaning toward.

modernhamlet, the algae is the one thing I want to get rid of in my 29 gallon tank. I have been reading the thread on Estimative Index and it sounds pretty simple although I'm sure it isn't as simple as it sounds. Oddly enough, my 75 gallon is algae free (knock on wood) and all I have running on that as far is CO2 is one of the Natural Plant SYstems which I know is no where near enough CO2 to matter.

I may yet move to EI. I've been trying to use PPS, since I'm trying to avoid the large weekly water changes. However, the holidays really conspired against me in terms of regular dosing and maintenance. At 4wpg and full pressurized co2, I don't have that much wiggle room...

Anyway. As I said, can't blame my troubles on the co2 equipment... couldn't ask for a better setup.

I have the JBL Profi 2 + pH controller and I haven't had a single problem with it, constant flow of CO² with no fuss.

i have the same, bought the ph controller of ebay for about £95 and it's great

From what I see, I dont' think the JBL is available in the US. Every website I found doing a Google search were in the UK. Sounds like a good system but may be hard for me to get.

I may do that. I looked at what modernhamlet is using and may just put the system together with those components. I know you can make a system from an old 2 ltr. drink bottle but I don't want something that's hard to manage or looks like crap.

If I had the cash I'd go with Seras' pressurised system

i have this one
