Which Cichlids Are More Popular

Hi, i live in Australia and for many years Africans have dominated the cichlid scene.
This is unfortunate from my point of view, because i like the Americans but i don't see the variety i used to see when i was younger.

I'm just curious what the situation is in other parts of the world.
Does your LFS stock more Africans or Americans?

Probably 50/50 in my LFS but Americans are way more popular with me!

I see a lot more African Cichlids myself. It seems that the more popular that marine tanks get, the more popular the similarly colored African Cichlids get (just my take on it). I'd much rather see the Americans...

Hmmm, Africans. Our petsmart has :
Yellow Labs
Aurutas( sp?)
Jewel Cichlids
Peacock Cichlids, and all other kinds. \

As far as Americans go, they have:
Angelfish
Oscars
thats about it

The only American cichlids I ever see is oscars and blood parrots, unfortunately. African cichlids are very popular around here.

EDIT: Oh yea, angels... I forget they're cichlids.
