I have a 20 gallon tank with a 1 bala shark, 1 albino catfish, 3 giant danios, and 1 gourami. I have brown algae everywhere, and it is getting out of control. Which type algae eater would take care of my algae problems and get along with everybody in the tank?
Thanks for your help!

bristlenose or if its fast flowing hong kong plec :)

unless there's two different hong kong plecs, it's not really a plec, it's a balitorid (also known as a hillstream loach...though I am not sure if its technically a loach)

I had brown algae too, and the guy at the LFS said that no algae eaters eat this type. Is this not true? If not, I want to get an eater for my tank--right now I just have tetras (7) in a 20 gl. Will those types of algae eaters work for my tank too?

Some plecs grow big (1') others stay small (4") www.planetcatfish.com

From my research I would recommend Ottos. I have read in multiple places that they love brown algae. :) They cleaned my tank up. ;)

Otocinclus are good at eating it.

Is this a new tank?? If not then you need to change your light bulb. Low light is the main cuase for brown algae. Most algae is cause by to much light. And as the light gets old the amount of light and K temp can change and cuse alot of problems.
