I've looked through, but I can't find them anywhere. I've seen some called copper harlequins and they seem smaller than the regular ones with a really bright copper stripe running up behind the gills then turning a right angle and to the tail. Anyone know if they are a smaller species or have any harlequin keeping info?
:thanks:

They are Cyprinids -Harlequin Rasboras (Rasbora heteromorpha). They don't seem to be in the index though. The Lambchop rasbora (Trigonostigma espei) is very similar, though smaller, and sometimes called the false harlequin, maybe these are the ones you saw.

Did you see them in Maidenhead Aquatics? My local one has a tank labelled as copper rasbora, and they are Trigonostigma hengeli - I asked them to check their list to make sure, as I wanted Trigonostigma espei (aka lambchop or slender rasboras)
Both T hengeli and T espei are slightly smaller than regular harlequins. Google has plenty info on all three.

The copper harlequins were my first fish and my favourites - they have so much character - always dashing around and playing in the filter flow. I am thinking of upping my shoal from 9 to 18 :)

Thanks guys :) Looks like they're still going to be too big though :( I'm looking for something interesting for a 27l planted. I don't like any of the microrasbora species, but I think a shoal of small fish will look so much better than a couple of larger ones. Maybe I'll move the endlers from my bowl and get something different in there...?

I have considered those alan, thanks. They just don't look much when I've seen them in shops. Maybe they'd really suit a planted tank though-hmmmm...
