My sister has this mollie in her tank, we think she's about 4 weeks(ish) gone. I've posted a short video on youtube (link below, the quality is'nt amazing as it was done on my difital camera). Basically, anyone got any ideas when she will drop, when should i seperate her.

Cheers.

I block YouTube at work, so I can't see your video, but if it's been about four weeks, she should be dropping now. Gestation is normally four weeks, five weeks being the longest.

she's very fat your soon have plenty of babies. but your danio's and other fish will have a field day :( how ever you will get a few survive :)

Thanks. The filters quite powerfull for the tank, any idea's what to do to stop any surviving fry getting sucked up. Would putting some kind of fine netting be ok???
:/

She's going to drop today/tomorrow or the day after. My guess is at 03:26 and 43 seconds tonight. :p Just kidding :p Thats one fat mollie!

Fine netting works, but you want to disperse a lot of the power by increasing the surface area to where water can be sucked in from. Therefore, adding a sponge at the end will do this.

 nah i reckon at 51 seconds

she will have them tonight, shes showing quite a good box and seems quite frantic which is a sure sign

i've just put her in a breeding trap (i know these arent ideal, but i've got no way of seperating her, and the danios etc, will have a field day). Hopefully some fry soon!!

Put a stocking on the filter intake. That will help things out, but like anything over the filter, you will be reducing flow slightly and you do have a faster clogging rate, so keep it clean.

Put the molly in a breeding trap last night, still nothing yet. I know some people don't like keeping them in breeding traps, but how long should i keep her in there. Don't want to stress her out or kill her by keeping her in there to long. But also want to try and raise some fry. What to do.

any suggestions would be great.
