when will my swordtails have babies???

I have 3 female swordtails and 2 male swordtails. My two black swordtails are pregnant and I have had them for over a month and a half and they still havn't had any babies? Whats the deal?

my female platy had babies 3 weeks ago but I only find one. I guess the others got eaten or something. Anyway I figured they should be having babies too.

I now have a breeder thing though so I can put the swordtails in there when they're going to have babies. I just need to know how to tell when they will have them.

Well flush if you bought a " breader thing " it was most probially a breading net or on of the plastic breader tanks. If you put her in the tank right before she is going to give birth or a day before that she might miskarage and not have them at all or have deformed fry. You really don't whant that to happen I hope if that happens the fry will likley die. Hope you take this information seriously it may help you get yourself out of a big heartbreaker.

Yeah I bought a plastic one. But what should I do because if I leave her in the tank then the babies will get eaten and if I put her in the plastic breeder then she will abort.

well if you put her in the plastic tank now you should be fine. One thing I would like to ask do you know how to tell if a swordtail is pregnate? just whant to make sure you know. But if you put her in the breader now she should be fine, or you could exchange the plastic breader for a breading net that goes in your main tank and when she drops you can collect the fry with you fish net and put them in the breading net.

What I meant but " How much does your lfs sell swordtails for? " I meant was. If you are will to she your fry or " Juviniel Swordtails ". You would have to know how much the sworstails cost first. Usaually they will give you a price that they will sell them to you for like say if they cost $3.00 they might give you $.75 for them.

Since they are black swordtails it is hard to tell. But I'm pretty sure they are pregnant because I bought a new swordtail a couple of days ago and there is definantly a big difference in how fat they are. I have some good pics, if you give me your e-mail adress I can send them to you.

Yeah I bought them for about 3 bucks. 75 cents sounds pretty good.
