hi everyone

please can you help me and tell me when my guppy is going to give birth. also is it a good idea to move her into a tank by herself? and when should i do that. i noticed that she had squared off last night and she looks pretty big now and box shape. i have read that she will get a white spot on her private end which means she is close. here is a pic of her last week. i will get another some soon.

thanks in advance.

That's a really pretty guppy. I have similar colour females without the redish hue on the tail.

Good luck :good:

I have over 30 baby guppy's from 3 of my guppy's, ranging over the last 4 weeks. Make sure you do put her in either a separate tank if you have one or a floating birthing tank as they will eat their young, as will the other fish rather rapidly if she gives birth in the main tank. If she has just squared off she will be giving birth more than likely in the next 10 days. If you notice her start hanging around at the bottom of the tank on the substrate of in the plants or basically acting like she is isolating herself from the others she is very close to giving birth. If you have a floating birth pool for your main tank that has the slits so the babies can drop down into the underneath that is fine, if you have one of the netted birthing pools, which I think are better due to water flowing through them, make sure you place a bit of a live plant in their for the fry to get to and hide in, just in case she gives birth during the night and then starts to eat them before you remove her. Cabomba is the best live plant to use for fry.
