Hello there, i have been treating my tetras for the past week and a half for whitespot. Within five days the white spot appeared to have gone and i still can't see any trace of it but last night i saw one of my neons rubbing himself on the ornamental bridge which seems to suggest its still there? I have been using King British meds for the past week and a half and have done frequent gravel cleanings.

Also my glow light tetras seem to have white out lines on there fins, not sure if this is meant to be there or not. I can't say i've noticed it before, I've been looking at some pictures and in some there appears to be those markings but i'm not sure if they are right or not. All fish seem to be eating fine and active.

I have recently bought protozin or something which people have recommended on here which is meant to combat a varierty of parasites so do any of you think i would be better to change meds or keep going with King British?

I've been finding snails popping up here and there too!

Any advice would be great, many thanks xx

Meds can make fish flick.
Check your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How long is it since the spot s have gone.

I'll check them when i get in. The spots have been gone for a while now, maybe since last Sunday but i wanted to make sure that the whole thing wouldnt come back again.

I've been looking at other members photos on here and the glow light tetras do seem to have a white outline or stripe on there fins so i don't think i have anything to worry about. (i hope its just the way they are)

Yes start the water change and gravel vac.
Add fresh black carbon to the tank.
And lower temp back to what it was.
Good luck.

do u think the markings are markings or something else?

Thanks for your help x

Finrot is common on top of whitespot , does it look fluffy or ragged.

A pic of the glow light would help. I have one with a dab of white on teh outer part of the dorsal finn.

No, the fins look fine apart from this white colouring. They're all active and eating fine.

I'll try and take a pic but my camera is pitifully poor.

What do yours look like krib?

I would add some myxazin by waterlife then.

It's normal mine look like that, white on top fin and bottom.
I first thought mine had finrot but it normal for glow light tetra fins to be like that.

Sweet halleuyah!!!! Thank you! :) I thought it could be something serious, now finally i can feel like i've acheived something. I successfully got rid of the white spot and all fish are currently living. Oh yes, i'm on a high. My first success. Thank you!

Hear that people, success is possible!

Glad your'e happy fish can be a worry lol.
I thought just like you that they had finrot, till I saw a thread in the tetra section about it.

I wonder if theres a reason why some have these makings and others not!? Do all yours have it?x
