I have got 3 angel fish which i have had for about 2 months, i have had others but they died :( what i wanted to know was how long will it take for two angels to pair off? I'm not sure if i have got males or females all i know is that 2 of them i think are marble angels and one is black. they are quiet big now and seem happy as they're keen when being fed and when i'm inspecting the tank and fish there not shy and come over to see me. Here's the stats

2' tank (about 16 uk gallons i think)

3 angels
1 male gourami
2 female gourami
2 cory catfish
2 flying foxes
5 rummie nose
4 bloodfin tetras
5 rasboras

you might have all the same sex but could be possible, do they show agression to each other?, btw your quite over stocked for a 2 ft tank.

They don't seem to be agressive towards eachother there very calm in fact. hope i aint got all the same sex :(

I know i have over stocked a little it's just i have had some unexpected births and had to move some fish around to help with new fish, planing to give some away.

How long would it take for them to pair off if there was male and female? would they have done it by now?

If they are not the same sex then it might be due to your over stocking. There musnt be that much room to swim for them never mind think of pairing off. Angels need deep spacious tanks.

i think mine paired off at about 4-6 mounths it was along time ago now had a few spawns from them, whem mine paired i was luky because i only bought two, give them some more time and see what happens, watch out for agression once they pair off. I sugest one you have a oair of angels you sell the one that isn't paired off or take him to your lfs.

My angel fish were only together for about 5 weeks and they started breeding, unfortunately they layed the eggs on the internal filter. I didn't even intend this to happen and then all of the eggs got eaten during the night. I keep them in a 240 litre tank. I doubt that your tank is over crowded as I kept mine in a busy community when mine bred.

angelfish do breed in comunity tanks but will almost always eat their eggs, if they feel there is a risk to the eggs they will eat them instead of letting other fish eat them.

you dont want them to breed.

as has been sed the tank is a lil overstocked and way too small once the angels have spawned.

theyll attack everyone in the tank.

mine take over halk of my 5 foot tank when they spawn.

thats more space than your tank.

then youll need space for 200+ baby angels.
