I know its generally discouraged to not cycle with fish but I need to work with what I have.

My fry tank I had to completly start again after all but 1 fry died (I think I had a bacterial bloom as there ws too much bacteria and insufficient filterage or something/

my fry tank is now running again 24 hours with 25% main tank water, 75% treated tap water, a box filter with new clean wool, and sub from main tank.
Now I was gonna add 1 cory, and if did well then add the 2nd 2.

is it ok to add the cory now or should I wait until say tomorrow afternoon? the reason I ask this is becusae surely the filter is not actuallt filtering anything right now? so should I squeeze juice from main filter into box filter and add a cory now?

Since you are only able to use a fish to cycle I would suggest you take the filter from a mature tank and squeeze it into this uncycled filter and add the cory straight away as you have already suggested. I dont like cycling with fish but in your case Im sure you have looked into all the possibilities of getting ammonia because the cory could die during the cycling process.

Anyway, I'm not going to lecture :). The filter would only be filtering particles (mechanical filtering) if it is a new filter. There may very well be bacteria in there if it is not fresh from the box but only water testing will tell you that! :)

Best of luck with it!
