I have 6 pregnant guppies they are all pretty fat and they are about 24 days into pregnancy! I need to know when I should move them into my breeding traps! but what makes things bad is I go on holiday on saturday and my grandad is only dropping into my house 3 times a day to sort out my fish for me! so can I put them in the traps when I go away and have my grandad take them out for me when the guppies have given birth or will this stress them too much if they are in the traps too long!

They usually dont like to be in the traps at all. It tends to stress them and they may abort or thrash around and cause damage that way. They may also be fine it really depends on the fish at the time they are placed in there. IF you are talking breeding nets then the moms may eat the fry and remember also that fry are best fed 3-4 times a day. good luck :)

lol my fish have there own "breeder" tank lol! my 10g is for the pregnant ones, as soon as they give birth the guppies will be moved and the fry be left to grow until fine in big tank, they will be with an aglae eater and 3 injured flame tetras, as in going on holiday, i wouldnt risk leavin in net as may stress-abort preggaz-even death, so best bet is to leave in tank and as ur grandad to put babies in the net if he sees them!

:D Thanks for the info everyone :D I was talkin to a m8 of mine and he suggested turning the breeding net on its side and putting my featherly leafed plants in there so the guppies can swim in and have there babies then swim out but the babies will get stuck in there and stay safe I tried it last night and the fish seemed fine with it in the tank and the guppies swam in and out of it so do you think it could work?
thanks again
