Before I start... little background. The molly is in a 75 gallon fulled cycled community tank. The betta was in a 10 gallon tank, fully cycled also, by himself... I moved him about 3 days ago to a fully cycled 5 gallon.

Now... here are the problems.

Cloud (the betta): He's been acting pretty listless lately, that's why I moved him. He was hiding from the filter and I thought it was finally too much for him... so I moved him to a tank w/ a much smaller filter. He hung out at the top of the tank hardly moving. Today I went to feed him, and he ate nothing... I took a close look and his scales are protruding slightly. I gave him a dose of tetracycline (for dropsy and the fuzz on his fins) and an epson salt bath. He is now floating in the 75 gallon tank w/ a bit of melafix in his little container.

nevermind... he died... what about the molly though?

Tiffa (the molly): I just noticed this today. She's spotted, but not ich spotted. It looks a little furry, but not cotton like. I've tried to catch her, but to no avail at present. I've added a bit of aquarium salt and raised the temp a little bit. Any ideas?

Epson salts are good at helping draw the fluids out with dropsy, carry on with the tetracycline for a while.
The platys sounds like it could be velvet, does she look like she has been dusted in talc, also has she gone thin, any signs of flicking and rubbing or laboured breathing.

Mr. Betta (aka Cloud) didn't make it... he died real quick. I gave the molly a quick salt dip and stuck her in a breeding trap so I can keep a better eye on her. I've inspected everyone else, and they all seem spot free.... and her polka dots are much fewer tonight.

It's possible that what you're experiencing is a fungal infection. From what I've read, they are fast moving with a high mortality rate if not caught early.

Take a look at this site: http://www.fishjunkies.com/Diseases/fungus.php

From your pictures I'd have a hard time saying it was fungus, but I don't think columnaris or velvet kills that quickly

well i dipped her in marine salt water last night and stuck her in the breeding tank- this morning she had a single spot left and was having a cow- so i let her go. it's water change day anyways...
