When Do I Know My Cloned Filter Is Established?

Hi everyone.

Bit of a long, multi-part question.

I got a new (well new to me!) tank, 215l aquastyle 980. Everything was clean and dry so I put the ceramic media in the filter of my juwel rio 180 to clone it. That was about 2 months ago.

Over the last couple of weeks, I've finally had time to set up the tank at 25C, add plants etc, and last weekend I set up the filter and put slightly over half my stock into the new tank. I've been waiting to set up the new tank before balancing the numbers.

5 three lined cories
3 dwalf neon rainbow fish
1 honey gourami

Since then I've been testing for ammonia each day. Happily all zero.

How long should I wait before adding more fish, and which should I bring up to full stock first?

My intended final stocking is
10 three lined cories
10 dwalf neon rainbow fish
5 honey gourami
5 Boesemanns rainbow fish

How stocked would I then be? Anyone see any problems? What would be the ideal temperature?

What was left in the 180 were 2 (true) siamese algae eaters. To which I've added 10 zebra danios. This tank is at 22C. Although not agressive as such, the SAE pinch all the food put in for the cories, so I want to leave them in here as the only bottom feeders. How low can I put the temperature? Because I would like WCMM as well.

Thanks for your input.

Cathy

Not sure about the stocking level, but if ammonia and nitrite readings are 0, then I would guess your tank was 'cycled' due to using the established media.

I'm sure someone will be along about the stocking, but I would expect it would be best to add it gradually.
