Hey everyone.

I have a yet-to-be-identified species of fry in my tank (got netted with the Neons at the lfs). He's clear/white right now, and looks sort of Guppy-ish. He's about this big, I think (it's hard to estimate): ------- If it's a Guppy, should it have at least some color by now? If not, when would it be getting some color?

Thanks!

Depends on alot fo this .... if he is a guppy at all. ........ he could just be a "late bloomer" ..... could be a feeder guppy :( or could be mainly endler !!! I have red they dont get their spots until later but yes your SHOULD be showing SOME oclor by now .... but keep hin and see how it turns out !!!! may just be white/plain bodied with beautiful fins ;)

i think guppies are grayish in colour not white, and they get their 1st colour about 6 weeks after getting dropped and its always (in Whiskerz case) black on the top and bottom of the tail

Their first colors took abut two months for me, but they were still not very deep a month or so after. :/ It just takes them a while to get their best colors.

Okey-dokey. Thanks all. Oh, I'll be keeping him around for awhile. I may send him to the tank at my mom's school, but I won't be taking him back to the lfs or anything like that. The Neons and Guppies are in the same tank at my lfs, so it's probably not of the feeder variety, but who knows.

Thanks, again!

Same thing happened to me. I have 3 unknown fry now that came along for the ride with some otocinclus from Petsmart. I was wondering how long it would take them to grow up.

I believe mine started showing color about 3-4 weeks old. I just sold a batch of young guppies that I raised, they were 2 months old and in full color and finnage (although they still have a bit of growing to do, they were 1-1.25" with tail). The LFS gave me 70 cents each for them, and I had 34, so that was some nice change :) I of course just took it in store credit, as I spend more than that easily, haha.
