My 55 gallon tank was recently introduced with Ick and Fin Rot, and Fungus growth. It started from one of my block mollies. I've lost a lot of fish because of this and the medication used on the tank. Because I had variety of fish in the tank and all of them with different medication tolerance.

Well, it's been a week since I have done a 50% water change on the tank and I can still smell the Melafix in the water. I am guessing it will go away in few days.

My question is, when can I add new fish to the tank? Did anyone went through the same experience? If so, how long did you wait before adding new fish to the tank after treating your tank with Quick Cure and Melafix?

I also want to add compatible fish this time that have same tolerance level in case another treatment in the future needs to be applied. I am attaching a pic of my fish (it's a barb) and I have 1 male siamese fish and 1 zebra danio in the tank. What compatible fish can I add to my tank??????

Thanks.

to be safe i would wait 2 weeks or until all the water paramiters are back to normal. on a lighter note why not go for a pleco there is a huge variety for all size tanks and there exelent fish, also most other clean up crew fish like coris would be fine. tank looks nice :good: , could put something in to hide the filter like some plants ore some mopani wood good luck :)

Just so you know that barb is a golden (or albino) Tinfoil barb and will eventually reach a size of atleast 10", also, it will be able to eat that Betta in a moments notice when larger...

Went through the same pain as you did and lost a lot of fish through White Spot and Fin rot - due I guess to trying to cycle with fish and the distress through bad water quality brought out the disease. I treated the WhiteSpot with eSHa EXIT and eSHa 2000 for the Fin Rot. Both meds can be used together at the same time. The treatment is for 3 days however when it didnt initially clear up I continued at half dose for another 2 weeks until all symptoms were gone and I could be sure that the emerging Tomites (free swimming white spot larvae) were zapped. I have now been free of any problems for around 3 weeks and im happy to say that my remaining fish look much happier. I intend to start re-stocking in the New Year (slowly this time.....)

I hope this helps and good luck, dont lose heart.

you want to put that heater under the water more it will stop it blowing up when you do water chages

also kick the temp of the tank up to 84-86 it will cut down the chances of more problems in the future

also add some more airation
