Hi, i recently bought a female VT and put her in my community tank. but when i got home from work today i found her laid on her side on the gravel, and when she tries to swim shes wonky and curved. Anybody know whats up?

Thanks :good:

She died :( she was only about an inch so not very old. I think she was ill when i bought her because she was in a tank with alot of other females, but she was the only one not swimming around.

Could anybody tell me what was up with her so i know what to do if it happens again?

thanks

Sorry about your girl....I am no expert but I think we need more symptoms. perhaps the fish were not very good. The only 2 girls I had only lasted about a week..they had white spot fungus etc. Good luck for the future :good:

Did you acclimate her to the tank first? Did you put her in the water still in the bag first, then let it float and match the temp of the tank water first, then after that leave her in the bag, but add a little tank water to that first for about thirty minutes at least, then finally release her into the tank? She may have gone into shock from the differences in your water, and not acclimated. And as stated above, it could also be many other things. Sorry to hear she died. That's a real bummer. LFS sometimes put their fish, especially poor bettas who are often just abused in my opinion to inhumane means, and you end up with very stressed, weak fish. Any more change or any other types of added stress can make them spiral downhill quickly.
