Whats Wrong With The Fish?

I posted a topic about a fish with a really big lumb of the side of him people said he had a tumor and would not last that long. He lasted longer than we thought and has seemed that the lump has slowly got bigger. Could this be a tumor or is it possibly pregnant?? It does not seem to discomfort the fish in anyway and has no problems in the tank with feeding etc. It is a syno catfish. Also the lump is soft to the touch

ooo bless him, aww i hope he gets better, not sure abput catfish to be honest, but maybe it would help people if you put your water stats on and your size of the tank ect and how long have you had him?

I dont know the stats of the water as i havent got a test, but getting one sometime... He has been like this for 3 months now...

I have had him about 1 yr or so...

Tank is a Aqua one AR 850

it's possible to just be a watery cyst, but the only way to deal is to have a minor operation.

How ever their is no way to know as not may vets would be prepared to test if it's a tumour or not.
Very strang if it grows and shrinks though it may of eaten something may be?

You dont have stats!
Thats the first thing you should have to hand...... get you self a good chemical test kit, not the cheap dip sticks.

Well its not mine personaly its my boyfriends...

Its doesnt change size stays the same... Just got bigger the longer it has been there...

is he in pain or can he go on living ?

if it's acting normally then it's not suffering.

At least get the stats on the tank for ammonia, nirtItes and nitrAtes and make sure ur's keeping up with water changes.
The only time I've seen them that larger is when their over feed. Which is easily done with these greedy fish given a chance.

Well we do weekly 25% water changes. Will go down shop tomorrow or possible tuesday to get a test kit...

They are not over feed. He is the smaller one of the lot and only gets the left overs.

The lump does it look soft like filled with fluid or hard.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.

The lump is completely soft. Like flesh or liquid. I havent seen him go to the toilet as most catfish hide till late at night lol. Sorry about not seeing that part

I would issolate the fish and try a bacterial med.

I will try my best to get some better pic when possible. It doesnt help its a moby pic and that he is hinding agaisnt the bog wood... I will get another tank setup...

Does the fish look bloated aswell.

She is acting herself and no different or strang behaviour coming from her.

Well all it has is a big lump for a belly. So i would say thats looking slightly bloating... but everyone has their different veiws on whats bloated and whats not
