60 litre tank,12 fish 7 neons,4 zebra danios,1 plec.ammonia 0,nitrite 0,tank has been up and running for 7 weeks now,not sure on nitrate and ph.nope red stripe is red not bleached out and he does come out of the cave,no marks on him at all.

Any symtoms to go on, some neons do sit about on there own.
Just keep a close eye on him.
Any black linning around the red, or a lump that goes to a point in the belly region.

Just keep an eye on him, without any symtoms to go on it hard.

More news on my neon,i did a water change today and the neon came out of the cave so i was able to examine him closer, his red stripe is indeed bleached out and half his tail looks ragged,i am sorry i think in my last posting the neon that i saw coming out of the cave was another one.

As for being bleached it could be neon tetra disease, they also loose their colour when they feel threatend.

As for tail dammage it could be fin rot.

What kind of plec do you have, it is also possable it could have had a go at the neon. (I hope its not a common plec)

neons are often targets for another fish meal, what kind of plec do you have as some are not ok with neons.

As for being bleached neons will loose there colour if they feel threatend (like a camafloug), I doubt it would be neon tetra disease, going by your current cercumstances.
hi there my plec is a sailfiin

I don't know much about the sailfin plec as to compatibility with neons, but do know they grow to about 50cm in size, I think is to big for your tank.

If you can, I suggest you move your neon into a quarintine tank, thats if you have one.
