What's Wrong With My Molly?!

Nothing has changed. His body seems to be in peak physical condition. He eats regularly.

I realized that his top fin (which as you know is large in male mollies) never goes down. it's always flared. perhaps this has to do with him not swimming correctly? I think he may be partially parlyzed. Is this possible? The trip home was a little rough, as was rounding up some other mollies in my tank with the net.

He doesn't seem to be showing any signs of stress and doesn't look like his time is coming in the near future.

Well he is eating that is definately a good sign. It is also a sign that his dorsal fin is up. One sign when fish is they clamp their fins to their body, not the oposite. I think it may be time to consider antibiotics. Going through the check list of causes of swim bladder problems, it isn't your water, you've made sure he is eating a good diet and he isnt constipated because he is obviously pooping. So my next bet is bacterial infection.

He isnt showing any signs of infection though. No bloating, and his body appears normal. He isn't thin.

Im leaning towards a genetic defect, as i've posted in another thread here. I'm not ruling out infection yet, I just havent really been able to find out which sort of infection it could be.

Correct me if im wrong, but if he were to be having internal problems would his body not display that? I appreciate your help here.

as said in the other post, which i probably was typing as you were typing this one, i think a genetic disorder would have been obvious in the store?

It could also be the early stages of an infection? Or else maybe an injury from being caught and netted?

If he's swimming normal now, and his fins are not clamped, plus you one minute say he's thin than not, and hes pooing right, than there isn't much else to go on.
Plus livebearers are prone to alot of deseasesn so we could be here for days, so say do what you mean.

Sometimes when a lfs catches a fish they can damage the swim bladder, as they have caught the fish to rougly.
