It started of,swiming normal and suddenly swimming carzy and stops again. Today the tail fin is almost closed,as if he doesnt have strenght to show that tail off.. What is the cause and what should i do. My Ph is about 7.6.. Amonia 0 and nitris 0,regular water changes about 20 percent every 3 - 7 days

What size tank, how many and what kind of other fish, how long has your tank been set up, and how old is the fish?

Its a 30 litre tank, 3 males,4 females. Only guppies.. The one thats sick is pretty young. Some of them are adults, but all is still young. Thank is about 5 weeks running,it was a fishless cycle, didnt know about the cycle thing. My water is in good condition,ph about 7.6 and amonia 0,nitris 0,regular water changes to keep amonia and nitres level low

It honestly sounds like ammonia poisoning. Are you testing your water with test strips or a liquid reagent pro test kit?

With a tank as small as yours, it's easy to get an ammonia buildup.

I have the liquid test,i did a 50 percent water change,if they look beter tomorrow, then my amonia test kit sux,it was very expensive so i doubt it will show wrong info.. ill get back tomorrow and let you know.. I bought a 120litre tank, want to put guppys in that 120 litre tank,if they get healty, how long should i wait to put them with their water and filters in the new tank? Sorry for the questions, just dont want to make them die..

i also think that you have ammonia poisioning after having it before twice i know what to look for. You need to do huge water changes for the next couple of days and see if he/she is better after then. If so then your test kit is bull-#105### and a #71###ing rip off. Good luck!

If you use the same filter media you're using now, you won't have to cycle your tank as you would if you were using all new filter media and could put your fish in right away (be sure to use the same temp water if possible, or wait until it reaches the same temp). What kind of substrate do you have?

Theres only gravel in,and loating plants, not a lot, should i remove the female that is sick? she looks awful and her tummy is turning red :/ this makes me depro,, ill do a large water change regulary and hope for the best

hell yes, remove the sick female, this may stop the others getting whatever she has. If any other fish go down with it, quarintine them in with the female as well. If you stop whatever it is from spreading (if it's a virus or disease) none others will become ill! :good:

i guess it was amonia poisoning, the 2 thats sick must have moods, theyre beter and then sick again, tomorow ill do 20 percent water change and hopefully they stay well. Does gravel make a difrence in a tank, like the amount u put in?

in a way yes because the gravel is a suitable place for billions of bacteria to grow and essentially acts as a filter in its own right. I put in bout 1.5 cm of peashingle to give a large surface area but 1 - 2 cm of the normal stuff should do fine.

Moody fish, i dindnt know female fish could get PMS! :kana:
