I have had my little betta fish for about 3 months. These last 2 or 3 weeks, his tank has not looked dirty like it did when I first had him. I could go a week before and I really needed to be cleaned. Recently, after a week it doesn't look dirty at all (but I still clean it)

Is my fish constapated? If so, what can I do to fix it. I'm somewhat worried, but he is still acting like normal.

Hi there, sorry to hear your betta isnt feeling well. Can you give us some more information please.

How long has the tank been set up? What size is the tank? Was the tank fishlessly cycled or cycled with the fish-in the tank? Do you have a testing kit? If so, what are you stats for ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte? What fish and how many are in the tank? Do you use dechlorinator in your water?

You aren't supposed to clean the tank or do water changes only when it's dirty. You need to do it at least once to twice every single week if the tank is smaller than 10 gallons. Waste builds up very quickly in small tanks and that can cause illness .

If the water looks dirty then it's a very big health risk to your fish.

How big is his tank, and does it have a filter? If he's been in there 3 months I'd say the filter would be cycled by now no matter what way you did it .

If your fish looks a bit unwell, then get yourself a LIQUID water testing kit. API or Nutrafin minimaster are both good test kits. Follow the instructions in the box and check your results ( they have colour match charts ) . If you have an Ammonia reading that is above 0 and a Nitrite reading that is above 0 , you need to do a water change at once.

You say your betta is constipated yet he's acting normally. Is he looking boated at all? Not pooing? Have you tried fasting him for a day or two ( this won't hurt him ) to see if he passes anything?

A clear picture of the tank and the fish would be good, we could help you a little more easily if we can see your setup.
