Hey everyone.

Younger guy wanting to get started into aquariums again. Had some when I was younger (7-15) and not 22. Getting ready to move out of my parents house with my girlfriend. And we have decided we want to set up an aquarium again. If I should not be posting this here then point me in the right direction please! Otherwise we just want some information on how many fish to get. What work well with others. We have agreed we like gourami's. We would also like a community tank that's around 30-40 gallons (100-150 liters) with a few different species of fish. Hate to be asking so much but also recommendations for lighting, filters, food, plants, caves, temperature, sand vs. gravel, etc. would be appreciated. We have been scouring the internet for advice and it's given us an idea on things. But it's always great asking advice from owners of gourami aquariums. Again, if I should repost this in a different area just point me in the right direction. Much appreciated

Welcome to the group! Gourami are beautiful fish. I'm glad you're seeking out suggestions to make informed purchases! I'm pretty new here myself, but everyone is so helpful Im sure you'll find what you need. You'll want to find out what kind of water you have and purchase fish for that kind of water once your tank had been cycling for a while. So do you know if you have hard or soft water? Usually you can pull up reports online for your water or take to a local fish store for testing.
