I was wondering what would be the best plant for the carpeting effect in my aquarium. I'm looking for something that is fast growing and isn't highly demanding of light or co2.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you've got low light then your choices are limited. Java moss is a possibility I guess or riccia attached to stones.

I have a 55 gallon(US) with the hood that uses 2 seperate flourescent lights. Without changing the hood and using the same fixtures what bulbs can i use that will give me a good amount of light? 2 or 3 wpg or pretty much enough to grow plants.

If your fixtures run say 36w bulbs then the only thing you can run is 36w bulbs, ain't nothing you can do about that. If you want to increasing lighting either add a third or even forth bulb or completely replace the ones you've already got, with say power compact T5's.

Expensive business this planted tank malarkey.
