Whats The Best Way

Do searches and look at pinned topics about fishless cycling.

the best and quickest way is to seed the new filter with mature media from a allready cycled tank.

i personaly like the natural way. MTS, Ghost Shrimp, Pond Snails, Freshwater Flat Clams, and i always have a few fish in there while cycling though. but the mts clean the substrate, ghost shrimp help clean anything in the tank that it can eat, small things. the pond snails help clean anything on the side walls. and the clams filter the water. then the fish just help keep things moving around. but thats how i cycle a tank after it's already going. i'm not sure these little critters will help much with a new tank.

so do what the first guy said maby. (not an expert at cycling new tanks.)

some 1 has told me 2 fill the tank an use a bucket of water from my other tank an tip that in then leave it with no fish in it , is that right ?

water from your other tank wont make any difference
you need to seed the filter with mature media

sorry if im a bit vague
take some sponge out of your cycled filter and put it in your new filter to jump start the proccess it works a treat

got ya now so if i take 1 sponge out my running tank an place it in the new tank with the normal filter an just run that

yeah that should do it :good: but remember you dont wanna take to much media out of your cycled filter or it wont be able to cope.
another method is to squeeze a load of gunk out of your cycled sponges onto the new sponges but ive never tried this way so i dont know how effective it is
