Whats The Best Way Of Cleaning Sand?

Hi Everyone

I have recently upgraded to a 120l tank and changed the substrate from gravel to sand. I am really loving the sand, it looks great, but how do you guys keep it clean? i did a water change the other day and tried to clean up the debris on the sand with my gravel cleaner. It was a nightmare! Half the sand ended up in the bucket!. What is the best way to keep it looking nice please? ( Also have quite a few plants in the tank too)

use the exact same gravel cleaner but keep it about half an inch to an inch above the sand. This should still remove the poop without extracting too much sand (you'll always take a little bit up).

I swirl the cleaner about a bit too... carefully, then you get the poop without as much sand

If you create a bit of a current by waving your gravel cleaner over the sand the debris gets swirled up and then gets caught up in the syphon.
