I have either owned veiltails or crowntail bettas all my life. I just got a DT yesterday and he sure is cute.
I have never really had a problem with bettas "settling in". They usually are swimming and eating the second day i get them in their tank. i have my DT betta in a 2.5g tank. it has a plant and a hiding spot and gravel flooring....the essentials. Anyways. He seems to do nothing, and he seems to not move when i am looking at him. its almost like he is semi- active when im not looking, but he doesnt move when i look. he has eaten like 1 pellet i think. and thats when i put it right in front of him. maybe its just me but is a DT's behavior different then veil or crowntail?
I mean like..... do DT's swim around less?
I noticed it is a little hard for him to swim because of his DT. He flutters, but thats no biggie.
So basically. my number one question is:
Will my DT settle in finally and be a happy fishy swimming and eating soon?
He is the fish in my avatar.
