 I'm at my sisters house and she's just bought a tank off a friend. She left a small amount of water in the tank, with the gravel etc already in there, and I've looked in there to see what i think are fry.
They are tiny creatures with tiny eyes, a small pin head belly and almost transparent body. Does this sound like neon tetra fry of something similar?
She had neon tetra and zebra danios.
I am thinking its one of those species, but could it also me some kind of "midges"?
If they were to be fry of these species, could you advise me on what I can suggest to her. She has had the tank here for about 5 days. She hasnt filled her tank up yet, so its about 4" full of water, with gravel in there, and fake plants.
She hasnt been running the heater/filter (for obvious reasons  )

For example:
1.What does she do about heating/water etc.
2. What does she feed the fry?
3. What does she do about water changes?
Any other info will help :)

Thanks

UPDATE>>>>>>>>>

We have identified the "fishlike things" as fry
We went to the LFS and she advised us to fill the tank up and turn the filter on, but I'm confused as I thought that might kill them? They gave us fry food and sent us on our way. I dont think they had the foggiest idea! :sly:
Any one else have suggestions....

if she had danios and neons in there only then it is probably a danio. fill the tank up a bit and if you have an air stone then put that in there with them for the fist few weeks. feed them a little of what ever the store gave you which im assuming is first bites or something along those lines, and if you can or even want to try to feed them baby brine shrimp once a day. how many do you think there are?? good luck with them.

Put botteld water in and replace it daily since your tank isnt cycled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Or they will die!!!!!!!!!!!!

The filter has been used since about 5 days ago and wasn't washed so Im presuming there is some good bacteria in the filter already, so at least its not a fresh filter.
Im not sure whats the latest update on the fry yet, but I will keep you informed on what shes done. There is approx 50 fry in there? Thats an estimate, may be slightly higher or lower.
