Whats Growing On My Driftwood

The last few weeks i have had small black fuzzy dots growing on my driftwood, have never noticed before, just recently. I have taken the wood out a few times recently and given it a full scrub, yet this stuff keeps returning (it comes off quite easy btw). Yesterday, i did the same again but i have left the wood out the tank now for a bit, hoping this may kill it...

I can't find this stuff anywhere else in the tank, just on the wood. Anyone know what it is and how i can get rid?

I had that aswell, they grow pretty big too! if you let them grow the look like small circles of hair

Thanks guys, no pics im afraid. The dots are much smaller than described in that link, they are about the size of a pen nib, if not smaller. They are also growing on the underside, away from the light

its around 6 months old, got past the brown algae stage last month
