hay guys I have 3 goldfish in this tank and about a, month ago I think the others fought with him and broke his tail and he grew some of it back not a lot just a bit but since then from his tail he is turning black he seems 100% happy he is probably the most active swimmer in the tank he eats fine and acts normal he is friends with the others in the tank but he is starting to go black is this a problem or should I just leave it its been about a month now and he is still 100% happy :) IMG_201306042323.jpg

This can be caused by a couple of different reasons. Black spots on goldfish can indeed be a result of ammonia in your water. Over feeding, too many fish in your tank, or poor water conditions can cause this. It also maybe possible that the place where you bought your fish from contained parasites or maybe your water contracted parasites somehow. This can cause its fins to acquire small black spots, sort of like small pigments that look like grains of salt/sugar. I would recommend for you to keep changing the water and maybe purchasing special salt for your fish. You can find it at your local pet shop. Although yor fish is freshwater, the salt will help kill any pathogens remaining in the water and make the fish feel more at home.
