Alright so my dad has a tiger barb that looked like it had some sort of mouth fungus last week when I stopped over. I had him get some melafix which worked pretty good at clearing up what it had. The thing is now the fish looks kind of like it has short whiskers like a catfish.... Is this something he should be worried about, and if it is how should he treat it? I asked him if the fish was eating again yet and he said that he's not sure. I do not know the water stats of his tank.
The tank is stocked with 3 tiger barbs, 4 serpae tetas, 2-3 albino cory cats, 1-2 emerald cory cats, 2 3 spot gourami, and a 5 inch common plec(he wants a monster sized plec) in a lightly planted 45-55 gallon tank. He feeds flake food, algae wafers, shrimp pellets, and freeze dried bloodworms from time to time. He has well water which he uses in the tank. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ask in tropical discussion if tiger barbs have barbels or whiskers. As I have never kept them.

If it looks like strands of cotton it sounds like columnaris.

I wish I could get a picture of it to go allong with my description. It's not cotton like at all. The best way I can describe it is that he has whiskers/feelers like those or a cory cat coming from either side of it upper mouth. Could it be that it is just the stretched tissue from the fungus or what ever it had?
