Ok so i polanted my tank messed up my water making it murky n that, but not the murk has settled down and some of the plants are growing at an amazing rate. My idea was to get a load of cuttings, a collection to see what plants thrived and what plants died. 1)When will i know what plants will survive and help the tank out and what ones die?
2)What is the best place to prune a plant and plant it it next to the original plant?

My light is flickering on and off, i thought that it was one of the bulbs but i changed the bulb and its still blinking, where can i get a new starter unit that will stop the blinking, and will the blinking affect the plant growth?

There is a slight growth of algae on the substrate, i just vac'd it off will that be ok untill i get more pruning of the fast growing plants?

I know there is a lot of questions here and i will post pictures soon, just been real busy lately all input is very welcome.
Thanks alot guys
Greg

You'll know in a month or so which plants will die, poss sooner.

Plant pruning depends on the type of plant.

stem plants - cut anywhere you see fit and plant the top in the substrate

rosette plants (swords, valls, etc) - remove whole leaf as close to the base as possible

Others (moss, HC, riccia) - literally give it a hair cut with some scissors.

The light issue sounds like a dodge starter or poss the unit itself. Try a new start (a few quid from homebase) if that doesnt fix it you might need to get a new starter or check the connections one could loose. For replacements the Arcadia ones are good as are the glomat goes which get less hot than the arcadia which is something I prefer.

Just remove as much algae as poss during each water change and hope it doesn't get to bag!
