whats a top of the line filter system for a 29 gal tank? i currently have a penguin 200 bio wheel, im not 2 happy with it

I've used Fluval and an internal Juwel and also Sera - and found them all to be very good and easy to operate. Can't go wrong with Fluval.

Top of the line is Eheim http://www.eheim.com/

I'd go with a 2224, reliable, & nearly silent. If you plan on really maxing out the stocking of the tank, put an Aqua Clear hob along with it. The canister will do most of your bio filtration, the AC will do most of the mechanical.

I've just installed a Fluval 304 and I'm so impressed with it compared to the old Fluval 4 plus internal one.

im been trying to find how these filters attach but i have been unsuccess full, r they external? do the tubes just sit in the water? do they have a good suction?

Canisters are external, 1 intake to the filter, which usually sits below the tank, 1 out from the filter back to the tank. The in & out attach to the inside of the tank with clips & suction cups. http://honors.montana.edu/~weif/firsttank/canister.phtml

A tank like yours could go for 3 months before the filter needs cleaning. They have many times the media of a hob, really efficient. The penguin 200 is rated at 200 gph empty. 2224 is 700 liter per hour empty. The difference is that the 2224 holds 3 liters of media. The penguin has little slide in cartriges. It's not about how much suction or water a filter moves, but what it does with it.
