whats a must have cichlid that is colorful and peaceful for a 90 gallon tank with other fish in it plz i really dont no which 1 to get :kewlpics: are awesome but names r good to B)

peacocks would be something to look into an originally come to mind, maybe you coould get away with certain mbuna species but the former is more likely what your looking for

Hi, :)

It depends what "other fish" you are talking about.

if you are talking about a community tank then you will only be able to have dwarf cichlids. Keyholes, Kribensis, a pair of Golden Rams or German Blue Rams would be ideal. German blues are my fave in my community tank.

a lovely fish and one of the most peaceful.

Only keep one pair though as they can be aggressive towards fellow cichlids when breeding. Saying that though...I have rams and kribs and have had no problems at all. (am keeping an eye out though!!)

I had a quick trawl through the members picures section on here. Have a look at the following links for a couple of pics.

On the other hand, if you are talking about an all cichlid tank then I would suggest Mbuna, probably the more peaceful of the larger cichlids, and in particular Labidochromis Caeruleus (Yellow Lab).

Take a look at the following links to a good cichlid site....

hope this helps.

Great pics loafy! (not sure how missed them in the pictures section! :dunno: am always trawling through there looking for Mbuna pics)

Love loafy's favourite too! (Melanochromis johannii??)

LFS in Tarvin had a mature pair for sale the other week for £18.

Couldn't get 'em though because my bloody tank is still not up and running!!!

Not long now though :/

you mean the black one with the stripe? I think he's M. Johanni but he was actually sold as Ps. Auratus. He's only just coloured up like that though. He's my Hubby's fave.
Mine is the blue stripey one and he keeps changing but I think he may turn out to be a Ps. Demasoni, or I hope he is because I was looking for them everywhere but no-one could get them, the bloke in Tarvin hadn't even heard of them, which surprised me!
If you want some Johanni though get yourself down to Waterways, that's where mine came from or he can get them for you inside a week. That bloke knows his stuff the woman always gets it wrong though, hence me being sold fish with the wrong name!! Never mind though, turned out OK in the end!
