What You Feed Your Fish?

What are the best floating granules?
Hikari if I actually want them to stay on the surface, TetraMin crisps(?) and the little sticks made by an independent company in Wales, the ones with the red dragon logo.. will look up what they're called when I'm home this evening.

Why do you need it floating?
Usually for surface feeders or target feeding fish which have been trained to come to the surface.

Why does it have to be a granule?
They can be big and bulky, so are well suited for some larger fish (who would make a mess of smaller foods, or take a long time to eat them and have trouble finding the smaller pieces).

I wouldn't count Tetra as the best of anything.

I asked why that person what floating granules, I will wait for THEIR answer.

Ooh, no need to ruffle your feathers at me! There's a reason why there's a reply button under every post ;)

Tetramin flakes,tetramin baby,tetramin prima granules & mini granules,nutrafin max granules,spiratula flakes,hikari sinking wafers,defrosted mini bloodworm/daphnia/baby brine shrimp/tubifex/artemia,hikari mini granules,peas,broad beans,cucumber....

All fish feed morning & night, mixture of different foods on each feed, veg every 1-2 weeks, defrosted meaty foods 2-3 times a week.
They normally eat everything within 2-3 mins

Could you define "meaty foods"?

Thanks.

Wow, now I feel like my fish are getting left out - so much variety here!

Mine get Tetramin Flake (for the community tank because they're quick and greedy), various types of algae wafer for the BN and cories (sometimes the type with added wood if I can get it), Tetra Prima complete granules for the betta. Sometimes some frozen bloodworm, blanched cucumbers and squidged peas. The blue lobster gets algae wafer and flake at the moment but when he's bigger and braver he might get some defrosted prawns etc.

So is there a huge difference between food brands for 'everyday' fish? (rather than more specialty fish like discus, predators etc).

I find that there is no difference if you feed only one brand of food (with all brands I have tried), I assume that is because none have everything which the fish need. A mix of 2-3 different brands of food + frozen (here is where the quartet and quintet packs come in handy) works well.

..but I treat all fish the same, trying to provide an equally varied diet for all.
