What Ya Think

:/ mm.. if the hump was more destingishable.

I would say that it would be possible to keep 2 in a 5 foot tank, although you have to be aware that cichlids can be quite aggressive. As your "centrepiece" fish.....what else are you intending to keep?

These are not fish for a planted tank, they are Malaiwi Cichlids and have quite particular care needs, they will also eat most aquarium plants.

id say these fish are not ideal for a planted tank... they are african and so need a reasonably high ph. while plants like acidic.

these guys are not that aggressive but i wouldnt keep anything too small with them.

id say you could keep 3-4 in a tank of youre size(1 male 2-3 femails).

im making an african tank at the mo and im getting some of these they are great fish and the hump in large dominant males can be very large.

heres a page on themmoorii apparantly they dont eat plants, is a macro predator-i can't say they wont nibble on plants however.

Forgot to mention the plants. Malawis need alot of rockwork in their tanks,as it helps with the ph in the tank, need a special diet(not too much protein) and pretty much have to be kept only with other malawis.
