Hello My new tank is cycled, planted and has some bogwood in it.

Its a 2ft tank.

I already have 4 zebra danios which im going to add to make shoal of 10.

What other colourfull fish would you suggest. I like the dwarf gouramis. Would like some bottom feeders such as bristelnose cat fish plus some mid level swimmers.

hi, a bristlenose would get too big for a 2ft tank i'm afraid. maybe some harlequin rasbora as they stay small. or some peppered or albino corydoras for the bottom.

Hello, we haven't crossed paths before, so welcome to the forum :)

Up your shoal of danio's to 10 like you said you would.
Get a shoal of Oto Catfish as a bottom feeder, 5 maybe 6.
Then get a pair of Red Honey Gourami's for some colour.
Then i'd recommend a shoal of Tetra's. Black Phantom something along those lines?

Just a thought?

Just going to jump in here and say no they don't. Depending on what morph you get as they are all generally hybrids these days, the average max size is 13cm. This coupled in with the fact they have the surface area of not only the floor, but the glass and any ornaments in the tank, they are normally more than happy in 2ft tanks, of course more space is better, but the bristle-nose is a common smaller alternative to the larger common plec and much hardier than the even smaller and fragile otto.

Hello

Thanks for the reply's, The bristlenose catfish i wanted they said would stay quite small at around the size the second poster suggested. I quite like the black shadow tetras.

My LFS has some small fish that are kept in a shoal but they had name of ghost shrimp on the tank. They looked like bottom feeders.

Would the danios desterb the bubble nest as i would like to breed them if they went for it. I have one plant that grows to have surface leaves. should i get another floating type.

Can we please have a sticky thread that highlights that most Danio species need tanks significantly bigger than other 5cm fish? I swear I see stocking threads involving Zebra/Leopard Danios in unsuitable tanks almost every day.

Zebra Danio + 2 foot tank= Unhappy Zebra Danio

A school of 10 would be great, but these guys so need a lengthy tank (ideally 4 foot or more) for their hyper-active needs...

You may have not enough room for the zebras, stick to 6, mabey?
I say get a few Pearl Gouramis, Ansisitirus Catfish (or clown Plec) A small school of Cardinal Tetras.
Post on my wall if you need more help!!

Currently they are housed in a spongebob square pants tank which i know is small which is why ive brought a bigger tank, I am limited on size/space so i feel they will be much happier. I have gold zebra danios long fin type. They seem happy very brightly coloured gold and desplaying there long fins beautifully.

I will def want to up the shoal min 6 is recomended i think.
