So I was in my LFS looking around for some food, and looking at the new stock and I happen to hear one of the employees talking to a new customer who was looking into starting her new tank soon. (I don't frequent this store very often but I was in the area so I thought I'd stop in and compare prices).

Anyways, I hear him telling her to only use bottle water from the store, there's no cycling necessary. As if that threw me for a loop enough, I see her looking at Oscars and he comes up to her and tries to explain that her 30G would be enough to house a pair, and that maybe she should buy a fish bowl(not even a tank), and breed some ghost shrimp and goldfish for it to eat. Also telling her that Ghost Shrimp are "easy to breed" and how hes "done it many times before". I'm almost positive Ghost Shrimp are almost impossible to breed in captivity, maybe not?

I left the store without telling the lady about proper cycling and such, but what would you do in my shoes? Call out the employee and tell the lady about proper cycling and such or let it go?

I would wait till he was away from her and tell her he was clueless - not fair to her or fish, first attempt and dead fish is all she'd have - be a shame

True, what got me was that his nametag clearly said Dog Department Manager.

lmao - yeah - not much diff there then!! prob just as clueless on them too. management needing a kick in the backside by the sounds of it.

Fish store employees can never be trusted. Only shop at one place because they're always desease free, but the people that work there have steered me wrong enough times to ware i know better than listen to them.
