Hi all,

One of our tanks (rather, my dads tank) is a 100l hex tank, which at the moment houses a motley crew of aging fish who claimed their pensions a long time ago. So I'm looking to the future of the tank, wondering "what can I do with this?" At the moment it is just a rockscape that's in there due to some incredibly plant loving fishes lol but I would like to make it into a planted when it's re-started. :)

I'm really unsure though as to what to do with planting since it is quite tall with a fairly small surface area and also what fish I would like (I'm taking control here - never let parents pick your fish  not good). I quite fancied some angelfish, but I'm not sure if the size of the tank is ok, or how many I could have if it was.

Basically guys, just suggestions as to what you would do if it was your tank, besides throwing it out

Well, once the tank is empty, I'd probably plant it well, and add in a couple African leaf fish, they're pretty cool, just keep some guppies on hand ;-)

Wow, they are crazy fish

Saw a vid of someones tank the other day - they were selling rainbowfish in the classified section - and thought how nice the setup was that they had: a couple of different rainbowfish species, congo tetras, either neons or cardinals - not sure which, and an angelfish :) It looked well nice

As it's a tallish one I'd look at the possibilities of dwarf seahorses.
Failling that plant it up, add lots of shrimp and a couple schools of small fish.

Hmm... Still undecided lol
I would like a nice school of small fish, but then I couldn't have an angelfish... :/
Who could have thought fishkeeping could be so complicated?!!

I dont think a fully grown angel would be happy in 100litres anyway they really do get to quite a size when they are fully grown, apart from that i always start by thinking up a theme for the tank like my current project is a small dwarf cichlid tank which will be my utter pride and joy), are there anyfish you've fancied trying your hand at? Or maybe a certain type of aquascape?

The possibilities really are endless but might i suggest that if you can find them then phoenix rasboras in large shoals are absoloutely AMAZING! We just got some in at work and i'll be taking some home :good:

Keep us posted on what you decide.

Uh oh :X I wasn't sure whether it would be big enough or not... Do you know what minimum size angels need then? Just for future reference when (not if lol :D ) I get a bigger tank.
Hmm... I'm being very tempted by the setup I mentioned above, but without the angel: congo tetras and a small shoal of rainbowfish with cardinals as dithers
Then some nice tall plants like vallis or onion plants with maybe a big amazon sword and a big java fern  I'm liking the sound of it already
