Drive 2hr round trip to collect a brand new tank that is considerably cheaper, or drive 40 minutes round trip to collect a used tank that is considerably more because it has the stand with it, that I don't need and would resell.

id only go for the second option MermaidMel
if ure paying the same price
but if it was me option 1 defo :good:

regards dave

unless u can sell the stand and get it even cheaper in the long run :D

I love driving and so would go for new and cheaper.
You say "considerably cheaper" - does this outweigh the actual cost of fuel it will take to make the longer trip? If so, then it's only down to your desire to drive that far or not.

apart from iv typed get 2wice lol :good:

I'm of the same opinion as Justkia. If the total price of the tank and fuel used to collect the tank is cheaper than the second hand tank, then get the new one. It should be free of defects and clean (without diseases in), whereas the second hand tank might have old silicon holding it together, or the fish might have had a nasty disease. Also the second hand stand might be crap and not worth anything besides chucking in the bin.
Go for the new one as long as it doesn't cost you a hundred pounds to collect it :)

Ok let me elaborate. Both tanks are a Tetra Aqua Art 60. One is 20 minutes away (both ways), I've seen it for myself so its in as new condition, the tank itself. I bought the 30 litre from the lady, she uses it to breed guppies in and now selling her 60l as she's moving in a few weeks. The only thing that may be good having a 2nd hand is the mature filter. She wants £70 for the tank and stand or £50 with the 30 litre back for her to resell. She won't split the tank and stand and I would have to resell the stand. If I take the 30 litre and sell the stand for £20 I've paid £30 for it.

The brand new tank is an hour away (both ways) and never been out of the box. No stand. Brand new, starting from scratch, although I have do have a seeded sponge filter.

It the new one that's cheaper and further away.

Me personally I'd travel further and pay less (especially if hubby's car was on the road as it has a company fuel card lol), but if you were to ask my dad the same question he'd pay a bit more to avoid the travelling.
Tough decision, Mel, if you know one of the people selling.

Hmm the new one is now more expensive than the used one and so its drive 2hrs for a new one or 40 mins for a used one

Well, if it more expensive AND further, then go for cheaper and closer - if you're sure the quality is just as good =)
