My tank has been up and running for about 2/3months now. It's my first tropical tank and after a few hiccups I think I'm doing pretty well. I wanted to see what suggestions you guys might have to improve what I've got as I know we've all got more ideas than we can put into action.

It's a 125L tank (90cmx50cmx30cm) with medium gravel substrate (normal mixed gravel with some flecks of green and turqoise gravel). I've two pieces of oceanic rock (one large with lots of holes and one small that provides a cave). One piece of bogwood in the centre of the tank. It's planted with some Cabomba, E.Densa, Amazon swords, Echinodorus latifolius and red Ludwigia repens.

Currently I have: 2 German Blue Rams (one is definately male, fingers crossed the other is female but I'm just not sure), 5 Yellowtail Rasboras (quite big fellas), 3 male guppies, 2 young Ancistrus (one albino), 1 Reg Wagtail Platy and 4 Amano shrimp.

I'm going to take some photos soon and put them up to get some feedback but I thought someone might have some interesting ideas.

Cheers, Andy

Photos would definitely help. ^^

Well if the Yellowtail Rasboras are Rasbora tornieri then yes they will get big... ~17 cm (6.5 inches).
if Rasbora dusonensis ~12 cm
if Rasbora borapetensis ~ 5 cm
There may be other species with the common name Yellowtail Rasbora, but these were the first three I found.

Did you want to shoot for a color theme? Like warm oranges/reds/gold colored fish vs bright green/dark green plants? Or more interested in variety of body styles and colors? Honestly I'd like to be sure you have R. borapetensis before I recommended any other fish.

Well after a little googling I think that they are Rasbora tornieri. Although they might, just might, be Rasbora dusonensis or Rasbora daniconius. I have to admit that advice from my LFS when I bought them was "they'll grow a little more but not much" and they're currently 2.5-3 inches long.

This could get interesting in a years time

I was feeling that might tank might be at it's limit fish wise, but was seeing if anyone had something interesting and original. The fish selection was based on a variety of characteristics really. I'm aiming for a balanced community.
