Hi, im asking some of the tropical fish forums what would be their perfect/ideal tank?

What fish would you have, what substrate, would you have bogwood or rocks, would you have aquatic amphibians, what size? etc.

Thanks for your replies, Mikey

My perfect betta tank? A sandy substrate, heavily planted 10g... if I were to add other fish/aqualife, it'd probably be my ADFs, and for them I'd also add coconut shell caves and slate plateaus. That's it. I wouldn't add other fish... yeah. That sounds fantastic to me right about now...

Perfect betta tank would be five gallons with plenty of plant and cave decorations, black gravel or sand substrate, with maybe an apple snail.

My perfect / ideal betta tank would be 12 inches long by 10 inches wide and 8 inches tall. this would be approximately 4 USA gallons, and would fit -perfectly- on my shelf.

It would have a dark sand substrate, lots of live plants along the back wall that miraculously stay alive (All of my plants have died on me >.<) perhaps a neat solid sort of decoration, ie, maybe a small piece of bogwood that could have a swim through hole but not something where the fish can go in and then try to swim up and get stuck.

I would probably also want to have 2-3 otto's in there. ^_^ A corner sponge filter would work nicely I think, and of course a submersible heater that I can hide in there, anda lovely top with some sort of florescant lighting, since incadescant messes with the temperature.

Yeah sp00ky that would be perfect...
Shoals of males in like a 30Gallon....
id love it..

my perfect tank would be my 7 gallon aqua ones, but with sand substrate, fully planted, a nice heap of bogwood, betta and nothing else! except maybe a snail to do a bit of the ol' algae clean up.

but i'm scared of changing to sand substrate at the moment, i'm working on the other bits!!

I would love to have a big pond in my backyard where my Bettas could live wild & free and produce beautiful babies =0) but that isn't happening.

I love 12g Eclipse tanks, especially the design of the hood. I would love on of those, perfectly cycled, with a sand & pebble substrate, a bunch of beautiful live plants (amazon swords, ferns, that grass stuff, java moss balls, duckweed, & bamboo shoots that wouldn't rot), a real driftwood cave & decorative stones, a Panda cory, a leopard Cory, & an albino Cory, and my green BF HM boy Maui swimming around happily! And a big bubblenest in the corner, of course.

I think a 2 Gallon bowl with no gravel, plants, or hood would be perfect. I like the simple look...
My only problem is that I need heaters in my betta tanks, so bowls don't usually work too well... plus I need to use that stiching board so the bettas don't jump out!

The ideal tank for me... a tank were I can take males, put them in the same tank and they won't fight.
