i know that mollies give birth to 50+ (or less if there are problems) for every pregnancy...

but i have 4 pregnant molly that of the same sizes of tummy...

so it means (maybe) that i will have a 150+ fryies...

and if they grew up, gigantic sapce is needed...

:hyper:

how can i handle this...

how about you...

what are you doing to your fishes...

i place all fry in a seperate 10gal, and whichever survive.. survive. once they ae big enough i either sell them, keep, or give them away :)

i gave mine back to the fish shop who gave me 2 pregnant mollys when i first set up the tank. Major shock!!!!

most will die or get eaten, the survivers can be sold, used in trade or given away.

I have the same problem! Exactly. I have two mickey mouse platies that are having their first fry soon and then I have one white molly and one black molly. They all look the same time along so I'm just as confused!

i used to catch and keep all my fry, but after just 3 months i had over 200+ so i started asking around if people wanted some (as my lfs's dont take in fish) got the number down to about 20 so put those in my turtles tank as live food. (yes i felt cruel but....) he wouldnt eat them, not one, he swims in a group with them, he must think he's a big fish! turns out 18 of those fry were female and two males so from now on the fry will be born in that tank, if any survive good for them, if not, shame, such is survival of the fittest

how nice...

thank you for the advise...

better to have the fishes as gift for the coming Christmas...

what do you think...

i dont know wether that is a good idea as some people might not want them and they might just get put in a small bowl or flushed down the loo
maybe put an advert on local internet sale site - ebay etc
and also maybe a note in a window saying you're selling fry - i would always sell even for a small amount cos sometimes when people get them free they dont care what happens to them

good luck

Sarah xx

thanks...

i'll ask them first if they wanted to...

the first time i take care a fish(molly), i put her in a bowl...

and now she is on my tank...

still alive and swimming...

about to burst...

so it think these gift will start a new life for them and for my coming fries...

what do you think...
