Well My 29 gallon is cycled and everything and workign jsut great. My PH is stable and my two golden gouramis are semi happy, alittle skiddish because the lack of many plants and filter current. I hope to fix that all soon though.. so as as start I ordered a 55watt light!that gives me 1.8 WPG! anyway, I believe that is enough light to get a carpeting plant (somethign i have always wanted) so.. what is a good carpeting plant?!

Elatine triandra.

Edit: lol your other options are: Hemianthus Micranthemoids, Hemianthus callitrichoides, Glossstigma, Riccia fluitians.

Not sure how most of those will do with just under 1.8wpg, but some of it will depend on how tall your tank is?

I've found it somewhat hard to get good carpetting on lower levels of lighting. Height of the tank is a big factor, also I've found that the height of the midground plants shade the foreground and hinder growth.

Yeh dwarf swords like Echinodorus tenellus would probably be ok, but these are about 6" tall so not strictly a carpet, but will grow in low light, mine are doing great in just just over 1WPG

I would not suggest micro sword (Lilaeopsis brasiliensis) to you b/c they grow extremely slow with low light and not enough nutrients at their roots. You'll end up getting too frustrated. Echinodorus tenellus is a good bet.

E. triandra stays pretty low, but depends on your substrate, lighting and trimming regime. Mine usually grows to about an inch before I snip it back and replant the tops. The bottoms then put out a side shoot which crawls along the substrate.

It's my favorite carpetting plant. I personally find other plants such as glosso, or HC that grows very low and compact to look unnatural. It just looks too organized, too tight, and too strict. This stays kinda loose, has a nice naturaly, bouncy kinda look.
